Who We Are
Our Story
in the cities as it is in heaven
The Gathering began with a God-sized vision for the Twin Cities - to see the reality of heaven touch earth through people experiencing Jesus. We exist to help you find and follow Jesus and experience the power of the Holy Spirit in your everyday life, then watch what He does through simple, bold faith.
We believe broken bodies can still be healed; anxious minds find peace, addicts walk free, outcasts belong, and lost souls discover purpose in Jesus. Not just in history books or far-off lands - but here. Now.
In the ups and downs of life, heaven still comes to earth. Darkness, despair, and injustice will not win. The Gathering is compelled by a kingdom vision: people of all ages, races, and backgrounds living on mission for Jesus, bringing more of heaven to the cities and beyond.
More of heaven on earth looks like life to the fullest for all who say YES to Jesus: new starts, steady peace, and hope that endures no matter the situation. The question is not if Jesus loves you and has a plan for your life (he does). The real question is: will you say YES? We dare you to believe.
Our Mission
We exist to help people find and follow Jesus and experience the power of the Holy Spirit in their everyday lives.
Our Vision
-
In The Cities As It is in Heaven.
Our vision is to see more of heaven come to earth, starting in our own neighborhood. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we represent Jesus in every place we find ourselves, bringing change to the realities of earth. Our aim is to see the people in our spheres of influence transformed by the Good News and live abundantly. To this end, we will boldly pray and bravely act, declaring that darkness and injustice will not prevail as the power of the Spirit transforms our cities .
-
A Church That Represents The Kingdom.
The Kingdom of God is not made up of a singular thing or one type of person; rather, the Kingdom of God is full of people with different economic backgrounds, races, ages, familial structures, political preferences and stories. In the same way, The Gathering is made up of different people with different stories, but we all have this in common: we have been redeemed, restored, and renewed by Jesus.
Our Values
What We Believe
As part of the Assemblies of God, we embrace a shared belief system that emphasizes the importance of Scripture, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the mission of the Church.
-
The Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired by God, the only written revelation from God to man. The Bible is infallible and the authoritative rule of faith and conduct for mankind (2 Timothy 3:15-17, 1 Thessalonians 2:13 & 2 Peter 1:21).
-
Man was created in the image of God, but by an act of will, Adam and Eve disobeyed Him. Thus, sin separated humankind from God and left humanity in a fallen, sinful condition (Genesis 2:26, Romans 3:23).
-
There is one true God, revealed in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19).
-
Jesus is the only means of salvation. His death on the cross paid the penalty for our sins, and His resurrection from the dead offered us a clean slate and victory over every trial. When we put our faith in Jesus, we become a new creation - the new has come, the old has gone. Salvation is available to all (Acts 4:12, John 14:6, 2).
-
The Holy Spirit is active in our daily lives and provides wisdom, comfort, and power. We believe in the indwelling and infilling of the Holy Spirit and that those full of the Spirit will display certain behaviors (Acts 1:8, Acts 2:4, Gal 5:22-23).
-
Just as He said He would, Jesus will physically and visibly return to earth for the second time to establish His Kingdom (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17, Matthew 24:30, Acts 1:9-11, Revelation 1:17).
-
Jesus doesn't plan to destroy the world but to redeem it. He will establish His eternal kingdom on earth where there will be no more sorrow, pain, tears, or death. Those who follow Jesus will reign with Him forever (Revelation 21 & 22).
-
The church is the body of Christ and has a three-fold purpose:
Making disciples of all people
Worshipping God
Equipping followers of Jesus for ministry
The church practices the ordinances of communion and water baptism, indicating public declaration and dedication to a new life in Jesus (1 Corinthians 12:27, Acts 1:8, Mark 16:15-16, 1 Corinthians 10:16, Acts 2:41, Romans 6:4).
